MIXXX introduced itself as a new Amsterdam-based initiative to the city on February 25th at Podium Mozaïek. The evening was titled LABELS, a celebration and critical exploration of all the labels we as humans place on ourselves and others. Upon arrival, the nearly 120 attendees were asked to choose and wear three stickers from sheets full of different labels.

The event opened in the main hall with live music by Josh & Robs. This was followed by a conversation moderated by Joleesa Clows with Itay Garmy, Fyn Paulina Bonita, and Nugah Shrestha on the topic of prejudice and societal polarization. Rihab el Majdoubi concluded the plenary session with an original spoken word performance.

After that, the audience split into two rounds across several spaces: a theatrical reading of a specially written text by Tamar van de Ven, performed by Charlie Daantje, Amarenska Haitema, and Fjodor Jozefzoon; a documentary matching the theme; or a one-on-one conversation in the foyer with a stranger about the labels they had chosen to wear.

The evening ended with a spoken-word recap by Luan Buleshkaj, and dancing to the music of Kasba.
